Bird Watching In Your Own Backyard
Bird Watching in Your Own Backyard
If you love watching the fanciful nature, flitting and playing of birds, watching birds in your own backyard will be a great joy. It's extraordinary just how many different birds you can observe. If you think there aren't that many birds in your yard, there are some things that you can do that will attract them. With a great bird house, different kinds of bird feeders and bird baths, you'll soon have some special visitors.
If you want to put a birdhouse in your yard, there is a real chance of birds making their home in it. They'll not only visit the birdhouse once in a while, but if it's snug and comfy, they could decide to make it the place where they hatch their eggs. This would be a real delight since you may even get to sneak a look at the baby birds now and again, or when it is time for them to fly. Not only is a birdhouse a place the birds will like, but it is a delightful backyard decoration too. Naturally, there are a wide variety of types, shapes and sizes of birdhouses, and the one you get is going to depend on upon individual preferences.
You'll find several different bird feeders out there, and many of them fall into three different categories. There are tube feeders, tray feeders, and hoppers. Tube bird feeders are shaped like a cylinder, with perches at the openings where the feed comes out. Tube bird feeders are good for different types of seed, as long as the openings are big enough for the seed to come through. Hopper feeders are more appealing to birds that may be tentative about tray and tube feeders. For smaller birds, tray feeders are ideal. If it doesn't really matter what kind of birds visit your backyard, and you want to enjoy any bird that comes, you can buy a general seed bird food. Most seed appeals to several different types of birds, because it has several types of seed. If you would rather have a specific type of bird to visit your backyard, then you will need to include a food or seed that is appealing to that particular species.
A bird bath is a great thing to have in your backyard if you are looking to attract more birds. They love splashing around in the water, and if it's clean, that's even better. You can pick from bird baths that are traditional, or you could opt for something a little different, like a solar powered fountain of some kind. Bird baths with moving water will appeal to birds that would not normally visit your normal bath, including humming birds, warblers, robins and thrushes. Birds particularly enjoy moving water, and it will attract them easily. Bird baths are also terrific looking as garden accessories. A lot of people love bird baths because they make birds come closer than they normally would. A bird bath is a good chance to take some wonderful photographs, and enjoy the company of the birds.
Implementing these three things easily can help to make your backyard a bit more appealing to birds. There are some other fantastic things you can add, like sweet-smelling flowers, and openings and crevices for the birds to hide. If birds feel safe in your backyard, they are going to stick around longer. Happy bird watching!
