Magic Formula For Perfect Keyword Density

Search engine optimisation (SEO) and Pay Per Click advertising (PPC) both need keywords. Keywords are vital in the overall online visibility of a website. When a website is optimised for the right keywords, it will appear on a visible position of the search results every time those keywords are searched for. This is true for both organic and paid listing.

There is no doubt as to the importance of keywords in a website. However, there are issues regarding the number of keywords in website content. The so-called keyword density has confused a number of search engine optimisers and web marketers. How many keywords should a website content have?

The question of keyword density still haunts a lot of optimisers today. It is a fact that the search engines abhor search engine spamming which includes keyword stuffing. The question is what is the right number of keywords?

Don't Focus On Keyword Density

A common mistake among search engine optimisers is focusing too much on keyword density. The search engines may have their own formula for keyword density but in the end, it doesn't really work perfectly on websites. When writing website content, you can't just avoid a particular word just because it has already reached the 2% keyword density standard. The 2% keyword density standard is for Google.

A good rule of the thumb is use a word when you need to use it. Do not compromise the meaning of the content with keyword density. Don't fret over exceeding keyword density if the content requires it. As long as the content is useful and the keywords are used significantly, there is nothing to worry about search engine penalties or issues.

What the search engines abhor is keyword stuffing. This means excessive use of keywords without meaning. This happens when a writer use words repeatedly for the purpose of appearing on the search result when that word is searched for. The meaning and relevance of the content is compromised.

The Real Formula For Keyword Density

There is no magic formula to determine what the perfect keyword density is. The real formula that does magic is to write content with the target readers in mind. Strictly following keyword density to the point of compromising website content is simply ludicrous. It will not push the website to the top of the search results.

What will make a website rank high on the search results is its relevance. The search engines are wiser than ever. They will not rank a website high no matter how many or how few its keywords are but based on the website's relevance to the search query made.
