What causes global warming?

Surprisingly, it is often mistaken that global warming has something to do with the thinning of the ozone layer. In fact, the thinning of the ozone layer and global warming are two different issues. The thinning of the ozone layer is caused by the introduction of chemicals into the atmosphere, such as chlorofluorocarbons (CFC’s). Global warming is caused by greenhouse gasses that are being put into the atmosphere by human activity. These gases hold in the heat from the sun and cause the overall temperature of the planet to increase, which leads to dramatic climatic changes that can threaten life on the planet. More specifically, the burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and the buildup of garbage on our planet are all producing carbon emissions, removing the natural resources that can remove carbon from the air and are helping in the progression of global warming.

Global warming is definitely a serious issue and one that should be addressed immediately. If we start now, steps can be taken to stop the progression of global warming. As mentioned before, global warming is caused by the collection of greenhouse gasses in the atmosphere. These gasses warm the planet. The burning of fossil fuels, deforestation and the collection of garbage all contribute to global warming. This means that if people want to reduce the effects, it will start to affect every aspect of their lives. Some ideas as to how you can change your life to reduce your carbon emissions are below:

•Use your car less; find a more efficient way of getting around like using hybrid cars, walking, or using public transport.
•Consider using an alternative energy source such as solar energy, or wind energy.
•Start recycling and reusing. This can reduce the garbage being dumped into the landfills and will cut down on the emissions being produced from the rotting garbage.
•Use less water: installation low flow taps, dual system toilets and water saving shower heads.
•Keeping the heat and air conditioning turned down less energy will be used in running the heater and/or air conditioner.
•Keep your home well insulated this can also help in reducing the amount of energy being used to heat or cool the home.
•Use less warm water; less energy is needed to warm it.
•Only do laundry when a full load of laundry needs to be done. This can save both water and energy.

These are just a few ideas that can be addressed if you want to help reduce the effects of global warming. It takes common sense and a conscious mind to keep up with what contributes to greenhouse gases, and diligence to ensure that these guidelines are enforced in your home. If you succeed, in implementing these ideas, you can help protect the earth for future generations
