VoIP-Something New
A Beginning
When I explored more, I came to know that there are few more topics on VoIP that can be highlighted .Normally, users are not very keen in knowing the requisites of a software as they do not find it necessary. Nevertheless, for the people find it interesting, I have some things to tell
Virtual Phone Number in VoIP
Virtual is something that has no physical existence rather it is conceptual. “VoIP” uses it perfectly in the form of Virtual phone number that allows the user to make long distance calls at local call rates. This is done through a line affixed by the service provider along with a virtual area code. Virtual area code is a code that needs to be prefixed before the phone number, irrespective of the location of the person dialing the number.
With very little extra cost this feature can be made available to the user .So what are we waiting for, let us go ahead and grab it now.
VoIP Gateway!
Until now, we were discussing VoIP with respect to a single user. However, let us see how VoIP can be used in a multi-user environment .When we require to connect many phones lines together we make use of gateways, as the names says, it acts as a bridge between the systems without the use of any extension which supports, like EPBX etc.
Gateways are classified into following two categories-
The first category is of the kind where you find complete solutions for VoIP telephones, where an interface between existing systems is not necessarily required. The main usage of this gateway is seen where new business has been set up and it uses VoIP as its main calling service with the normal phone system kept as a backup for VOIP Solution.
The next type of gateway available is a bit complex and requires to be handled carefully. It is usually used by those business system who want to upgrade there current calling system in VoIP form.
Both the types of gateways together have an additional advantage, which allows the interfacing between the VoIP and old telephone system. It makes the system flexible and cuts down the call expenditure.
This was a brief view given to you of the gateways. Next, we will discuss is the Security Issues of VoIP.
Security in VoIP
Security is an important issue, which, if not taken care of, can create serious problems. VoIP also suffers with this issue, not to worry; there are solutions for all your problems. The internet needs to be seclulated for mainly the e-mails, which we send from one source to one or many destinations, and the other is the voice calls that we make through VoIP.
Both the problems have a common solution, i.e., the Encryption software can be used. These are used to encode the data that can be in form of text, voice or any other and once encoding is done, the data is transmitted to the destination where decryption software decodes the data encoded by the sender. This whole process makes the data secure from being hacked.
VoIP in itself is a big ocean which has lot of things, which can be explored. The topics discussed above are a few of them.
