The Secret Thrill of Competitions

We all love competitions, we have evolved because e of them in the great competition of life the survival of the fittest. We are brought up with competition with sibling rivalry, sports day and working hard at school to get better grades than less studied students. So it comes as no surprise then that we love to enter competitions.

Is it the thrill of being one of the chosen few, or just the overwhelming desire to own one of the prizes available?

Competitions give you something to daydream and fantasise about, as with the National Lottery for example. How many times have you fantasised about what you would spend the money on if you hit the jackpot? Yet the chances of winning the big one are very slim, however reviling in the daydream lifts you from your present life, even if only for a short spell. And this is why so many people take part in the lottery week after week.

It’s no wonder then that we enjoy entering competitions and for the moments happiness that they bring, even if we don’t win, maybe we should seek out competitions to enter to bring a little ray of hope into our lives more regularly.
