3Skypephone: Latest Handset with Latest technology

The 3 Skypephone 3G mobile phone from Amoi is a big brand sold in Australia, Austria, Denmark, Italy, Ireland, Sweden and UK. The product will be launched soon in Hong Kong and Macau. Three offers 4000 free Skype outbound voice minutes that expire after 30 days, unless the user purchases another top-up or is on a pay monthly plan. Inbound calls don�t come under this quota. According to the website of My3, the model is identified as Amoi 8512 and while the packaging it is called 'WP-S1'. The handset is currently marketed under the name 3 Skypephone and is currently available in 3's own stores and in retail outlets, depending on country.

Initially, the mobile phone supported Windows Live Messenger in selected countries only. But in late November 2007, three released a Java application in the UK, and is now available through the Launcher soft key on the mobile phone. Usage of Messenger is free on 3's UK and Ireland networks. The 3Skypephone backs UMTS/W-CDMA 2100MHz, GSM and GPRS (900/1800 MHz) frequencies. The Skypephone generally uses the normal GSM voice network for handling Skype calls, which permits it to use Skype while the user is out of range of the 3G network and is roaming on one of 3's partner networks.
